Mohamed Chukri stars in the literary activities of the month of Morocco at Tres Culturas

Details

  • Start: 1 November 2021
  • End: 29 November 2021

The Fundación Tres Culturas has been promoting the work of Mohamed Chukri since 2014.,  one of the essential voices of contemporary Maghrebi literature, to whom we have not only devoted hours and hours of reading, of our club meetings and even a round table to pay tribute to him, but we were even able to see and hear him in the documentary film Damn streetby Juan José Ponce, screened in 2014.

In the month of Morocco, we return with Plain breada cult work published in 2012 by Cabaret Voltaire in a version revised by the author and translated from Arabic by Raja Boumediane El Metni. The rawness and literary audacity of this autobiographical novel established Mohamed Chukri as Morocco's greatest writer.

Plain bread is being read and will be discussed in the 'Three with books at home' club, which meets virtually; the 'Leila Slimani' club, a club of mothers interested in Mediterranean culture who meet every month to discuss a specific title; and the 'Luis Jiménez de Asúa' Social Integration Centre, with which the Fátima Mernissi Library has been collaborating fruitfully for years.
