The Three Cultures Foundation and the Essaouira Mogador Association are organising the nineteenth edition of the Festival of the Atlantic Andalusias in the Moroccan city of Essaouira, from 31 October to 2 November.
In this edition, more than a hundred musicians from Tangier, Rabat and Essaouira, but also from Seville, Algeciras, Jerez, Zaragoza, Paris and Amsterdam will present their talent to lovers of flamenco and Andalusian music.
Flamenco will once again be the protagonist of the festival's programme with the return of the dazzling Leonor Leal with its proposal 'Luna que se quiebra' with an important line-up of artists such as Perrate, Antonio Moreno, Javier Rivera y Canitowho bring us through dance, singing and guitar playing, '.a piece of the moon'. The Master Omar Metioui will lead its Rawafid Orchestra of Tangier producing a finale that will mix the dance of Leonor Leal under the joyful and complicit direction of maestro Metioui.
In the same register and for the first time in Essaouira, José Mari Banderathe nephew of Paco de Lucía will take the stage of Dar Souiri in a duet with Diego Amadorthe Sevillian piano prodigy. The festival will continue to move forward and continue with the flamenco of the cantaor Vincent Gelothe guitarist Tino Van der Sman y José Luis Sarmiento that together with Jalal Chekara and their musicians will celebrate on the Dar Souiri stage a Judeo-Arabic-Andalusian creation that will be premiered for the first time in Morocco.
Another highlight will be the concert "Back to Medinas Blancas"a journey inspired by Ibn Bâjja with his 'Poem of the Zephyr' or even by listening to 'Lamma Bada Yatathanna' sung by Nabila Maan together with Carmen Paris which comes from Saragossa, Ibn Bâjja's hometown.
Last but not least are the forums that will be held every morning in Bayt Dakira under the motto L'importance du Lieu, l'importance du Lien'. or the complementary programme with evening concerts in Dar Souiri.
