The President of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Three Cultures Foundation, considered that this institution is today the main instrument for cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean and an example of having been able to understand and adapt perfectly to the always convulsive reality of this bridge between Europe and Africa.
Moreno expressed his concern at the complex and uncertain times we live in, where, in his opinion, there is an interest in dividing and confronting, where moderate and conciliatory positions are no longer plausible. A time in which constant and sometimes irrational confrontation with those who think differently is predominant. "We have to raise our voice against that minority that uses expressions, gestures and the new communication networks to be a loudspeaker for its positions against that silent majority that wants to build a future in peace and harmony on both sides of the Mediterranean".
In this sense, he stressed that the Three Cultures Foundation is a beacon from which to radiate the light of concord with which to neutralise the lack of understanding and hatred between peoples. "We are immensely fortunate to have a Foundation that is, in itself, the best antidote to intolerance and fanaticism".
The event, which was also attended by André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King of Morocco and President of the Board of Trustees of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation; Elías Bendodo, Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and the Interior; Rocío Ruiz, Minister of Equality, Social Policies and Reconciliation; and Patricia del Pozo, Minister of Culture and Historical Heritage, among other authorities; the Councillor for Equality, Social Policies and Reconciliation, Rocío Ruiz, and the Councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage, Patricia del Pozo, among other authorities, Moreno has positively valued being able to link the good name of Andalusia, and that of the Kingdom of Morocco, to such a noble and lofty cause as that of the Foundation, which is none other than to be the great house of dialogue and understanding between different cultures.
Likewise, the head of the Andalusian Executive declared that his government is fully aware that the Three Cultures Foundation would not be what it is if it had not had "the best possible ally": Morocco. "Our history has many shared episodes. We want to keep it that way and share many more. Projects," he added, "that feed back into our peoples, that give us synergies that result in prosperity and opportunities. In more and better futures for both. As easy and as complex as this".
Along these lines, he thanked André Azoulay for his enormous personal and professional contribution to strengthening the friendship between Andalusia and Morocco. Relations which, as he stated, are going through their best moments, demonstrating the enthusiasm and responsibility with which the Andalusian government takes its ties with the neighbouring country. "We have moved up a gear in our efforts to build together on all levels: cultural, business, social... Being the gateway to Africa represents an enormous opportunity, and when we find the receptiveness and desire to work together, as we have done, we know that we are on the best possible path: that of cooperation".
Finally, Moreno wanted to make it clear that in this new phase of the Andalusian Regional Government, the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and the Kingdom of Morocco will have the firm and loyal support of the Andalusian Government.
