On Monday, 14 September, the Anti-Rumour Network is holding a meeting at the headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas that will bring together some 40 member institutions. The main objective of the working day will be to evaluate the continuity and sustainability of the network and, to this end, the debates will focus mainly on the areas of education and training. At the end of the workshop, the videos that the network has been working on will be presented and evaluated, and the manual and guide that have been produced for this purpose will be distributed.
It should be remembered that this network, of which the Fundación Tres Culturas is a member, is an initiative of the Department of Justice and the Interior of the Andalusian Regional Government, through the Directorate General for the Coordination of Migration Policies, within the framework of the Operational Programme of the Andalusian Social Fund 2007-2013, with the aim of highlighting and dismantling rumours, prejudices and stereotypes regarding the immigrant population residing in Andalusia.
This initiative plans to create a network of anti-rumour agents throughout Andalusia, made up of social organisations, migration experts and people committed to building fairer societies and who want to act to promote more positive and inclusive attitudes and perceptions of cultural diversity in their environment. Together, they work in a participatory way to detect rumours, investigate them and make proposals to counteract them.
The aim is to come up with direct intervention proposals that affect the immigrant population living in Andalusia, although those related to rumours and/or prejudices that may arise between people of different nationalities and/or ethnic groups will also be taken into account.
The aim is twofold. On the one hand, to deepen the line of collaboration with the third sector by carrying out joint actions that favour the social and labour insertion of immigrants. On the other hand, to provide civil society with contrasted information on the immigrant population, raising awareness and trying to change the existing imaginary and false conceptions about immigration.
This meeting will be closed to the public, as it is an internal event organised for members of the network.
