Debates around the Mediterranean: session on women's empowerment

In 1995, the Barcelona Euro-Mediterranean Foreign Affairs Conference launched an ambitious programme of cooperation between the countries of the European Union and those on the southern and eastern shores of the Mediterranean, in order to create an area of stability and peace, shared progress and dialogue between peoples and cultures.

25 years after that initiative, we at Tres Culturas want to evaluate the issue to assess where more persevering action is required and where good progress is being made and examples of good practice can be drawn from.

Based on the debate at five round tables on issues affecting migration, women's empowerment, the labour market and youth, education and research, and sustainable development, the aim is to contribute to making the Mediterranean an area of stability, progress and fruitful dialogue.

This activity, subsidised by the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, forms part of the various activities it carries out for the study, analysis and implementation of Spanish foreign policy priorities.

The fourth round table of the series, 'Debates around the Mediterranean: session on women's empowerment' will feature Awatef Ketiti, lecturer and researcher at the Audiovisual Communication and Advertising Teaching Unit of the University of Valencia, who will talk to Sandra Camps, journalist and director of the programme In the First Person of RNE.

The fifth and final round table of the series will take place on 20 March.
