The Fundación Tres Culturas, in collaboration with the Fundación Asamblea de Ciudadanos y Ciudadanas del Mediterráneo FACM, presents the book Poetic anthology of Ibn Khafaja of Alzira. This is a trilingual edition (Arabic, Spanish and Valencian) which, thirty years after its first edition in Valencia, represents a strong commitment to the rapprochement and visibility of the vast Andalusian cultural legacy.
The Consell Valencià de Cultura has published the work with the collaboration of the Fundación ACM Asamblea de Ciudadanos y Ciudadanas del Mediterráneo, with Mahmud Sobh responsible for the Spanish translation and Josep Piera, poet and translator, into Valencian.
Ibn Khafaja (1058-1139) was born in Alzira, Valencia, and was noted for creating a poetry that was free and independent for the time and was an influence on later poets. The work of the Andalusian poet can be considered as the "poetic personification of a profoundly civilised and Mediterranean way of life, a proof that Arab culture and poetry form a beautiful kaleidoscope of light". The 30 poems that make up the poetry anthology are a good example of this.
