The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and the Interprofessional Association of the Andalusian Strawberry (INTERFRESA) have signed a general collaboration protocol for the "development of activities that help to promote the participation and social, economic and cultural integration of the Moroccan working community in Andalusian society".
This document was signed on 1 April, at 19.00 hours, at the headquarters of the Tres Culturas Foundation by the Andalusian Regional Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior, Elías Bendodo (in his capacity as delegated president of this institution), and by the president of INTERFRESA, José Luis García-Palacios, as a sign of the interest shared by this foundation, the Andalusian government and the strawberry association in maintaining the best possible working and social conditions for these employees.
Moreover, as an institution linked to the Junta de Andalucía and the Kingdom of Morocco, the Three Cultures Foundation maintains in this agreement its intention to promote "the dialogue between INTERFRESA and the Moroccan authorities responsible for labour and integration of Moroccan communities living abroad in order to detect the demands of workers and promote a stay in Spain in optimal working conditions and socio-labour integration".
In this regard, it is worth highlighting the great involvement of the Moroccan government, through the Ministry in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs of the Government of Morocco and the Ministry of Labour and Professional Insertion of the Kingdom of Morocco, to ensure the best possible conditions for the contingent of workers displaced from Morocco to different locations in Huelva for the current red fruit agricultural campaign, through a programme led by Tres Culturas called IntegrARTE.
In fact, several delegates of this government, together with representatives of Tres Culturas, INTERFRESA, the Spanish and Andalusian governments, and the teachers and consultants who work with these workers (mostly women) have already held several meetings to define various lines of action within the framework of this programme, which includes training and leisure activities, and even accompaniment in more personal matters such as health treatment or bureaucratic procedures. All of this with a common objective that has been reiterated by all the parties involved: that these workers feel accompanied, safe, carry out their agricultural work in decent conditions and make the most of their free time with educational and cultural activities.
Many of the activities included in the IntergrARTE calendar have already begun, such as the Spanish courses for Moroccans which are taking place in Cartaya, Almonte, Palos de la Frontera, Moguer, Rociana and Lepe (with 13 groups in total). In addition, the cultural programme has already set its first date for next Friday, 5 April, in Cartaya, where the theatrical performance of the play TagnzaAWA Company, in the Arabic language.
This general protocol is intended to give rise to a long-term programme of actions, not only limited to the current campaign, but with the aim of being renewed and extended, as all parties involved have made clear.
