The Sevillian artist Pilar Sáenz begins her career in Portugal within the framework of the CARPET project.

Within the framework of the CARPET project, the Sevillian sculptor and engraver Pilar Sáenz Sánchez-Dalp is developing an artistic residency in Coimbra and Cerdeira, which gives her the opportunity to make contact with other Portuguese artists.

The experience starts at the centre CEARTEThe next stop was Cerdeira, in the village of artisans in Coimbra. Cerdeira Home for Creativity can develop collaborations with other creators in sculptural projects with refractory clay, as well as a workshop aimed at children based on the interpretation through watercolour of unique details of the host site.

Pilar Sáenz Sánchez-Dalp is a sculptor and engraver with a degree in Fine Arts and a degree in Applied Arts. She also holds a master's degree in Museology and a postgraduate degree in Cultural Management.

His work covers four areas: sculpture, furniture, lighting and graphic work. Sculpture moves between the objective and the subjective, between the mathematical and the sensitive. Among his favourite raw materials is rusted iron, with which he develops works full of clean profiles and simple geometry.

Throughout her career, Pilar Sáenz has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Honourable Mention at the LXI Autumn Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Santa Isabel de Hungría in 2012, the Josep Pujól Montané Sculpture Prize in Torredembarra (Tarragona) in 2011, the First Prize of the XLVI National Sculpture Exhibition Competition, awarded by the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Pozoblanco, in 2010, or the First Prize of Contemporary Art Extéril in Oporto (Portugal) in 2008.

The CARPET (Craft Art and People Together) project belongs to the Creative Europe programme and is financially supported by European funds for the development of activities.
