    20:30 - 22:00

At the historical crossroads between Eastern and Western cultures and home to great civilisations, Turkey continues to play an essential role as an intermediate space between the European and the Islamic.

The history of Turkish cinema up to 1950 was sporadic and unknown. Somewhat later, the film industry experienced a golden age around the Istanbul-based production company Yesilçam, which between the 1950s and 1970s developed a large production of B-movies that competed with Hollywood blockbusters. The figures from these years made Turkey the fifth largest producer in the world.

Today, filmmakers such as Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Can Ulkay, Deniz Gamze Ergüven portray the peculiarities of Turkish society and the production of TV series, a genre that has had a great impact on the international market, also reflects social problems and tensions.
