More than 1,500 people support the ‘Sepharad at Tres Culturas’ activity cycle

04/10/19

The cycle the Fundación Tres Culturas (Three Cultures Foundation) has dedicated to remembering the Sephardic legacy and most particularly its Moroccan dimension ended yesterday with the The living memory of the Sephardic Tangiers colloquium and the Sephardic Bridges concert. The collection of activities included in this initiative have proved very popular with the public.

The Foundation estimates that more than 1,500 members of the public attended the different events included in this cycle, which ran from the beginning of September under the title ‘Sepharad at Tres Culturas’, coinciding with the celebration of the European Jewish Culture Days which have been held for more than 20 years in more than 30 different countries.

This special programme included various concerts, a Sephardic song workshop, an exhibition, a special session of the Al-Andalus Cathedra and four film screenings which, in light of their success, have led to thoughts of continuing with this cycle in successive years.

For the time being, the Musical instruments in the  Hebrew art of medieval Spain exhibition can still be seen in the Foundation’s exhibition area until the 11th of October. Also, Tres Culturas (Three Culturas) has already planned other events relating to Jewish culture, such as the concert that will be held on the 12th of November at the Centro Sefarad Israel in Madrid. Programmed in collaboration with the institution and within the framework of the activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the Foundation, a piano and saxophone recital will be offered by Román Filiú y Marta Sánchez, which will allow the audience to delve into the Jewish jazz of the early 20th century with pieces by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Aaron Copland among others.
